Allegro Cement Coating

Description
Use: LaHabra® Allegro provides a durable and long-lasting coating for existing stucco.

Composition
LaHabra Allegro is formulated with portland cement, hydrated lime and lime-resistant mineral color pigments.

Packaging
LaHabra Allegro is available in 25 lb. bags.

Storage
Store under cool, dry conditions. Avoid direct contact with the ground. Properly stored LaHabra Allegro has a useable lifetime of approximately six (6) months from date of manufacture.

Coverage
Approximate coverage, when applied according to manufacturer's recommendations, is 800 to 1,000 sq. ft. per 25 lb. bag.

Job Procedure

  1. Condition of Surface to be Coated:
Allegro Cement Coating is designed for use over portland cement substrates such as stucco and masonry. It is NOT recommended for application over painted or sealed stucco surfaces, wood, metal, etc. The stucco surfaces must be clean, free of dirt and foreign material. Allegro is specially formulated for high-density stucco finishes and for changing the color of existing stucco finishes.

  2. Mixing for spray application:
    1. While stirring, slowly add 3 1/2 to 4 pounds of Allegro powder to each gallon of clean potable water until no lumps remain. (Six to eight gallons of water per 25-lb. bag of Allegro Stucco Coating, depending on type of application and equipment used.) Let the material sit for approximately 10 to 15 minutes. (Note: Water content is approximate and will vary according to application equipment. Airless equipment: 6 to 8 gallons; HVLP equipment: 6 to 8 gallons. The amount of water used should remain constant throughout the job to prevent color variations.)

    2. Remix the Allegro Cement Coating to ensure all lumps are gone and the product is well dispersed.

    3. Strain the Allegro Cement Coating material through a suitable strainer such as a painter's nylon strainer into a clean 5-gallon pail or the spray equipment to be used. Agitate material frequently during application to avoid settling.

  3. Application:
Allegro Cement Coating should be applied with an ambient temperature above 40°F (44°C). Allegro is spray-applied using a hand-pump compressed low-pressure air tank sprayer (HVLP garden type), professional tank sprayer, or modified painter's airless sprayer. Hold the nozzle approximately 18 inches from the wall when spraying, use a circular motion when using a circular pattern tip, or alternate vertical and horizontal motions when using a fan patter tip. Two coats are recommended to ensure complete coverage. Allow one hour or until first coat is dry, whichever is greater, between coats. Protect adjacent surfaces from overspray and droppings.
NOTE: Allegro Cement Coating overspray, drips, or spills should be removed immediately with water or soap and water to prevent the possibility of permanent staining.
    Curing:
Apply Allegro Cement Coating to a clean, dry wall surface. Do not moist cure or allow moisture from any source to be sprayed on freshly applied Allegro Cement Coating applications for 12 hours. Complete curing requires several days.

Cautions and Limitations

  1. Colors may vary due to weather and other job conditions. Before applying LaHabra Allegro, a sample should be applied and allowed to cure for color approval.

  2. See package for handling precautions.

  3. Always wear proper safety equipment, including non-toxic particle mask, eye protection, and gloves when mixing and applying this product.

  4. Contains portland cement. Avoid contact with eyes or prolonged contact with skin. In case of contact, flush thoroughly with water. For eyes, get prompt medical attention.
