ADVANTAGES

  • Easy to achieve texture effects.
  • Tintable to almost any color.
  • Suitable for interior or exterior applications.

COLORS/TEXTURES
Stucco d'Raffinato can produce a multitude of textures and colors.

SURFACE PREPARATION

  • Surfaces must not be exposed to temperatures below 40°F for a 24-hour period prior to finish application.
  • If used, a base coat must cure a minimum of 24 hours before applying Stucco d'Raffinato. (Note: Curing time may be longer in cool and/or humid climates)
  • Surfaces must be unpainted, clean, dry, structurally sound and free from efflorescence, grease, oil, form release agents and curing compounds.
  • Cure concrete at least 28 days before applying Stucco d'Raffinato. If curing compounds or form release agents are still present on the surface, wash it thoroughly with muriatic acid and then flush it to remove residual acids.
  • Skim coat masonry surfaces with the joints struck flush, using a base coat to produce a smooth, level surface and allow it to cure at least 24 hours before applying Stucco d'Raffinato.
  • Clean and level existing brick to form a smooth surface and allow it to cure for 24 hours before applying Stucco d'Raffinato.
  • Interior drywall should be finished to a Level 3 finish.

MIXING
Read the entire label before using this product.
Although LaHabra Stucco d'Raffinato comes premixed, it is recommended that you stir it prior to application as the aggregate tends to settle during storage.

APPLICATION
LaHabra recommends that the project owner or designer approve a job site mock-up of the application of this products. The mock-up should demonstrate the product's appearance under the conditions given by the project specification(s).

  1. A variety of application tools and techniques can be used, however, the most common involve the use of a metal trowel and spatula.
  2. To apply Stucco d'Raffinato, use a stainless steel trowel to lay down a coat slightly thicker than 1/16". Texture can be created by dragging the trowel or other tool(s).
  3. Allow the surface to dry for 15 minutes. Then using moderate pressure, use a plastic float to smooth out some of the heavy texture.
  4. Texture can be created — as well as designs — by using various tools.
  5. Allow the surface to dry completely.
  6. At this stage, an Old World Plaster finish can be created by glazing and/or staining the product.

CLEAN UP
Clean tools frequently using clean water.

MAINTENANCE
LaHabra Stucco d'Raffinato can be cleaned with a soap and water solution followed by a warm water rinse. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners.
